چکیده

The obstacle avoidance problem has been a well researched topic by many robotics researchers. We focus on one popular solution to this problem, the Curvature-Velocity Method(CVM). In Simmons’ original paper [5], differentially steered (DS) robots where not considered thoroughly. This paper presents a variation on CVM, specifically designed for DS robots. We show comparable results to that of Simmons and our extensions are discussed.

Extremal Trajectories for Bounded Velocity Mobile Robots

Previous work [3, 6, 9, 8, 7, 1] has presented the time optimal trajectories for three classes of non-holonomic mobile robots: steered cars that can only go forwards, steered cars that go forwards or backwards, and differential drives. Each of the vehicles is modelled as a rigid body in the plane with velocity and angular velocity controls. The systems are differentiated only by the bounds on t...

Direct Optimal Motion Planning for Omni-directional Mobile Robots under Limitation on Velocity and Acceleration

This paper describes a low computational direct approach for optimal motion planning and obstacle avoidance of Omni-directional mobile robots within velocity and acceleration constraints on the robot motion. The main purpose of this problem is the minimization of a quadratic cost function while limitation on velocity and acceleration of robot is considered and collision with any obstacle in the...

Fuzzy Vector Field Orientation Feedback Control-Based Slip Compensation for Trajectory Tracking Control of a Four Track Wheel Skid-Steered Mobile Robot

Skid‐steered mobile robots have been widely used in exploring unknown environments and in military applications. In this paper, the tuning fuzzy Vector Field Orientation (FVFO) feedback control method is proposed for a four track wheel skid‐steered mobile robot (4‐TW SSMR) using flexible fuzzy logic control (FLC). The extended Kalman filter is utilized to e...

Dynamically feasible, energy efficient motion planning for skid-steered vehicles

Recent research has developed experimentally verified dynamic models for skid-steered wheeled vehicles and used these results to derive a power model for this important class of all-terrain vehicles. As presented in this paper, based on the torque limitations of the vehicle motors, the dynamic model can be used to develop payload and terrain-dependent minimum turn radius constraints and the pow...

The lane-curvature method for local obstacle avoidance

The Lane-Curvature Method (LCM) presented in this paper is a new local obstacle avoidance method for indoor mobile robots. The method combines the Curvature-Velocity Method (CVM) with a new directional method called the Lane Method. The lane method divides the environment into lanes, and then chooses the best lane to follow to optimize travel along a desired heading. A local heading is then cal...
